Managing Virtual Sites
One of the primary responsibilities of a SuperAdmin is the management of virtual sites.
A virtual site in Syncplify Server! is a fully self-contained instance of the secure file-transfer service. Each virtual site operates in its own isolated process (system service) and includes:
- Its own user database (users and groups are unique to each virtual site)
- Independent protocol handlers for SSH2, SCP, SFTP, FTP(E/S), and HTTPS (WebClient!)
- Separate virtual file systems (VFSs)
- Individual certificates and security configurations
- Distinct logging, scripting, and event handling settings
This isolation ensures that each virtual site is logically and operationally independent. Changes, users, or issues in one virtual site do not affect others, making it possible to host multiple, completely separate environments on a single Syncplify Server! instance.
The top section of the SuperAdmin UI is dedicated to managing these virtual sites. Here, you can:
- Create new virtual sites (subject to your license limits)
- Start, stop, drain, or delete existing virtual sites
- Assign or remove administrators for each site
- Monitor the status and health of all virtual sites at a glance
NOTE
Each virtual site can be configured and managed independently, allowing for different protocols, security policies, and user bases as needed.
